Embracing the Ozarks: My Path to Helping Others Heal

I’ve always called Northwest Arkansas home, and the Ozark Mountains have been my playground for as long as I can remember. Growing up as a latchkey kid, I ran these hills every chance I got, discovering hidden creeks and secret trails as I went. Even now, whenever life feels overwhelming, I head back to those same winding paths. Hiking these mountains is, without a doubt, the best free therapy you’ll ever experience. There’s something about the crunch of leaves underfoot, the gentle sway of the trees, and the crisp mountain air that reminds me how resilient and connected we all can be.

I became a mother at a young age, raising my boys on my own here in the Ozarks. It was a journey filled with both challenges and triumphs. My sons grew alongside these hills, learning strength, resourcefulness, and an appreciation for nature’s quiet power. Today, they’re all grown and navigating lives of their own. I’m still their mom in every sense, even though I no longer pack their lunches or oversee bedtime routines. One of my greatest joys is seeing the lessons we learned together take root in their adult lives, from their independence to their ongoing respect for the natural world.

When my boys were finally ready to leave the nest, fate introduced me to the man who would become my husband. He’s a former U.S. Army veteran, and many in my family also served, so the military has always held a special place in my heart. We soon realized that both of us were carrying the weight of past trauma—a heavy burden that affected our daily lives.

Navigating Trauma Together:

Neither of us felt fully functional, and we had moments where we questioned whether we’d ever feel truly whole again.

We experimented with different methods of self-care, from counseling to meditation, and discovered that true healing often requires a holistic approach.

Through trial, error, and constant learning, we found therapies and mindsets that helped us heal. This experience ignited a passion in me: I knew I wanted to share these discoveries with others who might be struggling as we once were. Healing is possible, and it’s far more than just surviving; it’s about reclaiming joy, forging deeper connections, and rediscovering life’s simple wonders—like an early morning hike in the Ozarks.

Today, I focus on helping others navigate their own healing journeys. I offer both online and in-person sessions, understanding that each person’s circumstances are unique. My work is grounded in empathy, guided by personal experience, and enriched by ongoing education. I integrate various techniques, including somatic approaches and hypnotherapy, so clients can find relief from anxiety, stress, and the aftereffects of trauma.
